How To Refill Canon Toner Cartridge?

When my Canon Printer runs out of its toner cartridge ink, it’s time to grab the ink refill kit. It is not very hard to refill a toner cartridge but it is best to locate your chore where any spilled ink cannot cause permanent damage.

Start by covering the vent hole on the front side of the ink cartridge with scotch or electrical tape. Then turn the inkjet cartridge over and cover the outlet hole with either electrical or scotch tape. Be sure to completely seal this hole or you risk leaks while filling.

Using the hole-making tool included with your ink refill kit, cut away the label to show the ball bearing covering the filling hole (cut the area at the top of the word “PUSH” to expose the ball bearing). Using the included drill tool, poke the ball bearing into the cartridge body.

Attach the needle to the syringe and draw 10 ml of black ink. Then very slowly inject the ink into the fill hole to fill the chamber. Wait 40 seconds and repeat until the chamber stays full, then retract ½ ml of ink. Return all unused ink to container.

Clean away ink that may have escaped the filling hole. Using a yellow plug (provided in refill kit) drive the plug firmly in as far as you can, leaving enough to pull out if necessary. Make sure the filling hole is sealed air tight.

Remove the tape covering the vent holes. Then, over the sink or a bowl take the tape from the outlet hole. Some ink should drip out. Place the inkjet cartridge, outlet hole down on a dish until the dripping stops. Once the dripping stops place the toner cartridge in the printer and run the cleaning cycle per instructions.
